David Cameron, you know, the one who mistakenly called Britain the USA’s “junior partner” in 1940 a few weeks back and last week enraged Pakistan over their “export” of terrorism, has been at it again.

The beleaguered PM, this time speaking at a popularity-garnering Coalition Roadshow, said that Turkey’s admission to the EU would help solve global issues “like the Middle East peace process, like the fact that Iran has got a nuclear weapon”. Now, for the handful of you who have let the last decade of nuclear armament scare stories pass you by, Iran’s long pursuit of ultimate destruction remains, as yet, unsuccessful. Obviously Dave missed that blindingly obvious memo…unless he knows something we don’t of course…

Various spokespeople have since dismissed the blunder by saying the PM “misspoke” and that the comments were taken out of context…here’s the video just in case you believe them…

The shadow cabinet, waking up from the slumbersome Labour leadership crawl, accused the PM of being a “foreign policy klutz”. Chris Bryant, Shadow Minister for Europe and veritable “who?” of the shadow cabinet commented, “This is less of a hiccup, more of a dangerous habit. Considering Iran’s nuclear ambitions constitute one of the most important foreign policy challenges facing us all, it is not just downright embarrassing that the prime minister has made this basic mistake, it’s dangerous.”

Dangerous indeed, Dave really should brush up on his briefings, or at least stop prancing about the country in some vain post-election poll-boosting campaign, that really is embarrassing…
