T’was with a flurry of transparency and crowdsourced accountability that Eric Pickles opened upo the Department of Communities and Local Government little black book yesterday, revealing limousine upon luxury excursion of taxpayer-funded extravagance by Pickles’ predecessors. 

The remarkably svelte Pickles, spotted by Politickle giving a seemingly sidesplittingly funny interview next to Parliament yesterday, accused Labour local government types of, well, identity fraud:

“Labour ministers in charge of doubling council tax a spending spree with other people’s money, racking up massive debts on the nation’s credit card”.

Well, the “nation of armchair auditors” that Eric is relying on to bring Labour’s excess to public attention really have been busy. The Taxpayer’s Alliance has been publishing a rolling blog, while Guido has been getting all uppety about a relatively insubstantial payment to the Adam Smith Institute…
